Protec Recycles Cancer Research UK’s Event Signage

At Protec, we are always looking for ways to make a meaningful impact – not just in the construction industry, but for the environment as a whole. That’s why we were proud to partner with Cancer Research UK to collect and recycle signage from their Pretty Mudder event, giving used materials a second life through our award-winning Proplex ClosedLoop Remanufacturing Scheme.

After the event, we collected 18 pallets of Correx signs, amounting to an impressive 3,380kg of material. Rather than allowing this plastic waste to become an environmental burden, we brought it back to our state-of-the-art recycling centre, where it was chopped, sifted, shredded, cleaned, and recycled into brand-new Proplex sheets.

By remanufacturing the recovered material, we were able to produce 1,690 new signs – an incredible demonstration of how plastic waste can be transformed into a sustainable resource. This initiative saved the carbon equivalent of 592 trees, highlighting the environmental benefits of our Closed Loop approach.

Where others see plastic waste, we see wasted plastic

Through our £2m investment in recycling technology, we’ve created the world’s first Closed Loop solution for temporary protection materials, ensuring that plastic waste doesn’t end up in landfills but is instead repurposed for future use.
