Recycling Week 2025: Your Waste, Our Solution

We are proud to remain the only company in the world to manufacture, supply and recycle temporary protection materials for the construction industry.

Our state-of-the-art wash plant and recycling line keeps us at the forefront of sustainable innovation and our Proplex ClosedLoop Remanufacturing Scheme enables our entire Proplex range to be fully recycled.

Temporary protection materials are traditionally sent to landfill or incineration, releasing unnecessary carbon emissions. Our ClosedLoop process changes that. Used Proplex sheets are collected, chopped, sifted, shredded and cleaned before being reprocessed into raw material for new sheets – conserving natural resources and reducing carbon impact.

Since establishing our Sheffield Recycling Centre, we have successfully recycled a significant volume of plastic waste, preventing thousands of tonnes of emissions and keeping valuable material in use.

Protec Sustainability Manager Jim Riley said:

“A large proportion of plastic waste comes from the construction industry and, as a plastic manufacturer, we’re passionate about protecting the environment. Our investment in manufacturing and recycling means we can take back customers’ used plastic and stop it going to landfill or incineration. We believe plastic doesn’t have to be a problem – it can be part of the solution.”
