CO₂e Saving
Protec and Travis Perkins are demonstrating how circular procurement can deliver measurable carbon reduction across the construction supply chain.
Over the past six years, Protec has developed its ClosedLoop Remanufacturing Scheme, recovering construction plastic waste and remanufacturing it into high-quality protection products, all manufactured in Sheffield, UK.
By the start of 2026, more than 8 million kilograms of construction plastic waste had been recovered through the scheme. Working with partners including Powerday, Sortera and MSK, Protec gives waste plastic a new life as temporary protection products.
In 2025, Travis Perkins switched 1,406,504 protection sheets to Protec’s ProplexRE Surface Trade Protection Sheet, resulting in a verified carbon saving of 1,587,943 kg CO₂e compared with the previous virgin plastic alternative.
The results are supported by GreenCircle Certification, independently verified Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) and full material traceability.
The partnership demonstrates that circular manufacturing is a practical, scalable approach already delivering measurable environmental benefits across the construction industry.
